General Definition of Work

Performs work responsible for providing administrative and clerical assistance to the City Council, City Manager and Director of Citizen Services/City Clerk.

 

Essential Functions

Assists with preparation of semi-monthly City Council agenda packets; obtains supporting documentation; prepares and indexes letters and reports; distributes packets as needed.

Attends and records minutes of City Council sessions.

Prepares written minutes of all City Council sessions for approval by the City Council; oversees indexing and filing of all minutes.

Posts notices of all council meetings, advisory board meetings and public hearings; submits meeting notices to the news media.

Assists Executive Assistant to the City Manager with tracking and responding to City Council requests and citizen inquiries.

Assists City Clerk with the City election process.

Maintains City permanent record filing and City Clerk’s office filing.

Assists City Clerk with conducting research and preparing reports.

Participates in the Missouri City Clerks’ and Finance Officers’ Association.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent.

Read and interpret written material and directions. Print or write manually or on appropriate equipment. Perform basic mathematic functions.

Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications.

Three (3) years of experience in varied clerical and secretarial work. Associates Degree preferred and three (3) years of experience in varied clerical and secretarial work.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Associates or higher educational degree.

Five (5) plus years in administrative experience.

Relevant municipal government experience.

 

Salary per hour $20.91, plus a generous benefit package.

  • Bi-weekly pay periods.
  • Twelve paid holidays per year.
  • 96 hours of vacation – accrued throughout the year.
  • 96 hours of sick leave – accrued throughout the year.
  • days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed on July 1 of the fiscal year to receive.
  • City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance – Employee only.
  • City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).
  • Optional group term life insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Optional vision insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Voluntary deferred compensation plan – not matched by the City.

  • Total compensation value (Hourly starting rate plus benefits value) for this position is $30.75 hourly/$63,967 yearly.
