POSITION TYPE:  Hourly, non-exempt


JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for participating in the operation and maintenance of the activated sludge treatment plant in accordance with state discharge requirements, lift stations, and related facilities, programs, and activities.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Monitor and adjust SCADA system to optimize plant and lift station operations.
  • Maintains and monitors wastewater treatment process to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations; operates plant equipment including SBR basins, automatic bar screens, grit removal units, waste activated sludge tanks, UV disinfection, standby power generator, blowers, pumps, motors, electrical controls, and valves; and documents areas of concern.
  • Participates in the biosolids program; operates the dryer, centrifuge(s), polymer feed, and associated equipment to ensure EPA 503 regulations are met to produce a class “A” exceptional quality material.
  • Assists with maintenance duties on plant and biosolids equipment.
  • Assists in the operation, repair, and maintenance of lift stations to ensure reliability of flow.
  • Conducts routine, preventative and emergency maintenance activities on plant equipment and keeps equipment maintained.
  • Completes week-end lab testing as required.
  • Learns to troubleshoot and make minor repairs on mechanical and electronic equipment, programmable logic controllers and telemetry equipment.
  • Performs grounds and building maintenance tasks.
  • Performs custodial duties.
  • Answers the telephone; provides information as requested; screens calls, takes messages, and forwards calls.
  • Responds to emergency call out situations as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:

  • Understanding of belt drying equipment, centrifuges, pumps and associated equipment.
  • Understanding of applicable EPA and MODNR regulations.
  • Understanding of the activated sludge treatment process equipment and procedures.
  • Skill in the analysis and diagnosis of equipment problems.
  • Skill in the repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in the use of computers.
​​​​MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Wastewater Maintenance
  • High school graduation or equivalency required.
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts as required.
  • Must possess or obtain within two (2) years of the first day of employment a Missouri Class “D” wastewater license.
  • Must possess a Missouri Class “E” CDL license.
BENEFITS:

The total compensation value for this position is $26.62 hourly/$55,371 yearly, which consists of the starting hourly rate plus the benefit package.
