General Definition of Work

Performs work responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating public education programs that promote traffic safety at the local and regional levels. This role works closely with both public and private community partners to reduce motor vehicle crash injuries and fatalities.

 

Essential Functions

Coordinates activities for the Safe Community Programs.

Prepares and submits quarterly grant reports in a timely and accurate manner.

Provides community training and classes; solicits funding and resources for special projects.

Develops and manages traffic safety initiatives, including seat belt campaigns, distracted driving awareness programs, child passenger safety programs, and drug and alcohol prevention initiatives.

Obtains and maintain certification as a Child Passenger Safety Technician and Instructor; conducts certification and recertification courses.

Distributes and educates caregivers on proper installation and use of child safety seats.

Participates in local, state and national conferences and training opportunities.

 Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid driver’s license.

No felony convictions.

 

Salary per hour $20.48, plus a generous benefit package.

  • Bi-weekly pay periods.
  • Twelve paid holidays per year.
  • 96 hours of vacation – accrued throughout the year.
  • 96 hours of sick leave – accrued throughout the year.
  • days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed on July 1 of the fiscal year to receive.
  • City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance – Employee only.
  • City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).
  • Optional group term life insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Optional vision insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Voluntary deferred compensation plan – not matched by the City.

  • Total compensation value (Hourly starting rate plus benefits value) for this position is $30.41 hourly/$63,262 yearly.
