General Definition of Work

Performs work responsible for maintaining and repairing of the water wells, boosters and water distribution systems for the City of Cape Girardeau.

 

Essential Functions

Performs a variety of maintenance and repair work on water wells, water mains, valves, hydrants, boosters and other service lines.

Conducts periodic rounds of all assigned facilities observing operating conditions; takes appropriate action as directed.

Assists in location of water mains.

Assists in the inspection of new installations of water lines, appurtenances and new water facilities.

Maintains records of corrective and preventive maintenance according to set procedures.

Responds to after-hours and emergency call outs with appropriate equipment and personnel.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency and two (2) years experience in maintenance and repair of water distribution systems; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Must comply with Missouri CDL requirements and maintain a valid Class “A” license with airbrake endorsement.

 

Salary per hour $18.58, plus a generous benefit package.

  • Bi-weekly pay periods.
  • Twelve paid holidays per year.
  • 96 hours of vacation – accrued throughout the year.
  • 96 hours of sick leave – accrued throughout the year.
  • days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed on July 1 of the fiscal year to receive.
  • City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance – Employee only.
  • City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).

  • Voluntary deferred compensation plan – not matched by the City.

  • Total compensation value (Hourly starting rate plus benefits value) for this position is $27.98 hourly/$58,202 yearly.
