JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting in the management of aquatics division facilities and programs, developing and coordinating programs, leagues and special events, and management of food concession operations..

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates part-time staff.
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates aquatic programs, recreation leagues, tournaments, classes and special events.
  • Assists in the operation of Jefferson Community Center, Cape Aquatic Center, Cape Splash Family Aquatic Center and the Recreation Division to include scheduling, overseeing maintenance operations and developing and implementing facility policies. 
  • Provides physical assistance with regular and special maintenance of aquatic facilities.
  • Coordinates with outside user groups concerning use of aquatic and recreation facilities.
  • Manages  concession operations at various facilities, and tracks inventory,  expenditures and revenues
  • Coordinates and develops staff schedules for aquatic facilities, recreation events, concessions, leagues, and  various programs.
  • Works with marketing to develop informational brochures, newsletters, flyers, and  other marketing material
  • Assists in researching projects as assigned.
  • Tracks employee hours and assists in completion of various payroll reports.
  • Prepares  recreation and concession reports.
  • Assists in the  development  of operating budgets and provides oversight of assigned budgets.
  • Provides quality customer service.
  • Responds as needed to after hours calls.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
  • Knowledge of aquatic facility operations and programs, sports rules and recreation program principles.
  • Knowledge of aquatic maintenance including pool chemistry and practices.
  • Knowledge of food management , concession operations, liquor control and health code regulations.
  • Knowledge of facility management  principles and acceptable cleanliness standards.
  • Basic knowledge  in the operation of computers and various software programs.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of risk management  principles.
  • Skill in organizing and planning aquatic and recreation programs, leagues and special events.
  • Skill in managing personnel.
  • Knowledge of child labor laws.
  • Basic knowledge of  budgeting principles, cash management and inventory control.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience and knowledge sufficient to perform the major duties and essential functions required of the position.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.

Salary $42,604 per year, plus a generous benefit package.

  • Bi-weekly pay periods.
  • Thirteen paid holidays per year.
  • 96 hours of vacation – accrued throughout the year.
  • 96 hours of sick leave – accrued throughout the year.
  • 2 days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed on July 1 of the fiscal year to receive.
  • City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance – Employee only.
  • City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).
  • Optional group term life insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Optional vision insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Voluntary deferred compensation plan – not matched by the City.

  • Total compensation value (salary plus benefit value) for this position is $60,801.09 yearly.
