POSITION TYPE: Hourly, Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY: Position is responsible for handling permits and administrative task for the Inspections Department.

MAJOR DUTIES:
- Responsible for contractor trade certifications/license and collecting payment for licenses.
- Responsible for all aspects of permits for special events and outdoor music.
- Creates utility accounts for water taps paid for through the permit process and coordinating with other departments.
- Responsible for all aspects of the downtown mobile permits.
- Responsible, after training, for maintaining data integrity and following system workflows in MUNIIS.
- Serves as a receptionist for the permit counter; including checking the Community Development voicemail boxes and forwarding to the appropriate person or return calls as necessary.
- Serves as a backup for the City Hall reception area.
- Responsible for sorting and distributing all incoming and outgoing mail for City Hall; prepare and processing mailing, including utilizing suffer machine and applying postage using a postage machine.
- As required scheduled inspections, issue certificate of occupancies and stop work orders; ensure that all necessary inspections are scheduled for the project and that the permits are current, using system workflows in MUNIS.
- Responsible for assisting the Plan Reviewers and Inspectors for data entry for inspections, permits, and plan submission.
- Attend the Board of Appeals meetings and be responsible for keeping minutes and prepare summary of meetings for board members.
- Responsible, as required, for running reports.
- Responsible for filing, organizing, and scanning documents for Inspections Division and City Clerk's Office; including maintaining building plans and archives and assisting on special projects as directed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
- Knowledge of current office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of records management techniques and record retention schedules.
- Working knowledge of city ordinances, building codes, department policies and procedures.
- Skills in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines and following up on assignments.
- Skill in the use of various office equipment, computers and software programs.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in documenting and enhancing existing data maintenance and integrity processes.
- Skill in utilizing logical thinking to interpret, clean, and manage large datasets.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent diploma.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in administrative work.
- Two years of college, business school or equivalent education.
- Experience in municipal government.
BENEFITS:
Salary per hour $17.67, plus a generous benefit package.
- Bi-weekly pay periods.
- Thirteen paid holidays per year.

- 2 days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed on July 1 of the fiscal year to receive.

- Total compensation value (Hourly starting rate plus benefits value) for this position is $24.74 hourly.
