General Definition of Work

Performs works responsible for coordinating and performing maintenance of city-owned facilities for the City of Cape Girardeau. Priority will be given to the aquatic facilities including Cape Splash Family Aquatic Center, Cape Aquatic Center and Jefferson Pool.

 

Essential Functions

Performs daily service requests for repairs, installation and technical device on electrical, heating, air conditioning, plumbing, aquatic systems and general building maintenance.

Hires and supervises part-time maintenance staff at three city aquatic facilities. Assigns detailed work schedules and projects.

Performs emergency service requests for essential operations of city facilities.

Performs daily checks of the aquatic facilities water chemical levels and mechanical systems ensuring proper ranges and operations. Corrects issues as needed.

Performs routine and preventive maintenance of buildings and mechanical equipment.

Locates materials, parts and information for requested services.

Develops specifications and costs for maintenance projects.

Assists with developing and maintaining the yearly Facility Maintenance operating budget.

 Responds to facilities and all programs after office hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

 Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Experience and knowledge sufficient to perform the major duties and essential functions required of the position.

 

Salary per hour $20.91, plus a generous benefit package.

  • Bi-weekly pay periods.
  • Twelve paid holidays per year.
  • 96 hours of vacation – accrued throughout the year.
  • 96 hours of sick leave – accrued throughout the year
  • 2 days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed on July 1 of the fiscal year to receive.
  • City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance – Employee only.
  • City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).
  • Optional group term life insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Optional vision insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Voluntary deferred compensation plan – not matched by the City.

  • Total compensation value (Hourly starting rate plus benefits value) for this position is $30.75 hourly/$63,967 yearly.
