General Definition of Work

Performs administrative and technical duties to support the City of Cape Girardeau Police Department.

 

Essential Functions

Drafts and prepares correspondence for evidence collection, preservation and storage.

Assists with budget preparation; prepares requisitions and receiving reports.

Assists in the installation of water line services

Maintains evidence records.

Assists with citizen inquiries and resolving issues.

Assists in seeking grants within the forensics science discipline.

Organizes, assigns and stores evidence into evidence vault locations; maintains chain of custody for all evidence/found property; transports evidence to and from crime lab.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency. Have knowledge and level of competency associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school.

Valid driver’s license.

No felony convictions

 

Salary per hour $18.95, plus a generous benefit package.

  • Bi-weekly pay periods.
  • Twelve paid holidays per year.
  • 96 hours of vacation – accrued throughout the year.
  • 96 hours of sick leave – accrued throughout the year.
  • days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed on July 1 of the fiscal year to receive.
  • City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance – Employee only.
  • City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).

  • Optional vision insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Voluntary deferred compensation plan – not matched by the City.

  • Total compensation value (Hourly starting rate plus benefits value) for this position is $28.26 hourly/$58,789 yearly.


Before final appointment, successful applicant will be required to successfully complete a drug test, background investigation and pre-employment physical.
