Description

General Definition of Work

Performs works responsible for managing and maintaining the operations of the Shawnee Park Sports Complex and the Shawnee Park Center for the City of Cape Girardeau.

 

Essential Functions

Supervises the operation of the Shawnee Park Sports Complex and Shawnee Park Center including scheduling, overseeing maintenance operations, cleaning procedures, recreation operations and developing and implementing facility policies.

Recruits, hires, trains and supervises personnel. Develops employee schedules and completes accurate payroll reports to ensure budgetary compliance.

Develops, implements and evaluates sports leagues, camps, clinics, recreation programs, tournaments, etc. that meet the needs of the community and are inclusive of a variety of interests and demographics.

Through proper training and communications, ensures all staff follow facility policies and safety protocols.

Develops positive relationships with tournament providers and assists in recruiting additional tournaments from various softball/baseball governing bodies or organizations.

Promotes programs and facilities through social media, web sites, flyers and informational brochures, newsletters and community outreach.

Coordinate and oversees facility rental contracts and event logistics at the Shawnee Park Center ensuring customer satisfaction and safety.

Provides general oversight of Shawnee Park Complex food concession operations.

Works evenings and weekends as needed. Responds to after-hour calls as needed.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.

Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with three years experience or service.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

 

Salary per year $48,037, plus a generous benefit package.

  • Bi-weekly pay periods.
  • Twelve paid holidays per year.
  • 96 hours of vacation – accrued throughout the year.
  • 96 hours of sick leave – accrued throughout the year.
  • 2 days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed at the beginning of the fiscal year to receive.
  • City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance – Employee only.
  • City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).
  • Optional group term life insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Optional vision insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Voluntary deferred compensation plan – not matched by the City.

  • Total compensation value (Salary plus benefits value) for this position is $69,728 yearly.
