Description

General Definition of Work

Performs works responsible for effectively developing and implementing successful recreation sports leagues, programs and events in addition to oversight as assigned facility operations and personnel for the City of Cape Girardeau.

 

Essential Functions

Develops, implements and evaluates sports leagues, camps, clinics, etc. that meet the needs of the community and are inclusive of a variety of interests and demographics.

Develops positive relationships with coaches, contract officials and instructors and tournament/league providers to maximize facility utilization and revenue.

Recruits, hires, trains and supervises part-time staff. Develops employee schedules and completes accurate payroll reports to ensure budgetary compliance.

Through proper training and communication, ensures all staff follow facility polices and safety protocols.

Coordinates and oversees facility rental contracts and event logistics ensuring customer satisfaction and safety.

Manages food concession operations effectively training staff and tracking inventory, expenses and revenue.

Assists in coordinating Recreation Division special events, activities and leagues.

Promotes programs through social media, web sites, flyers and informational brochures, newsletters and community outreach.

Works evenings and weekends as needed. Responds as needed to after-hours calls.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.

Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with 1-3 years of experience or service in a comparable position.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle operated.

 

Salary per year $48,037, plus a generous benefit package.

  • Bi-weekly pay periods.
  • Twelve paid holidays per year.
  • 96 hours of vacation – accrued throughout the year.
  • 96 hours of sick leave – accrued throughout the year.
  • 2 days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed at the beginning of the fiscal year to receive.
  • City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance – Employee only.
  • City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).
  • Optional group term life insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Optional vision insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Voluntary deferred compensation plan – not matched by the City.

  • Total compensation value (Salary plus benefits value) for this position is $69,728 yearly.
