POSITION TYPE:  Salary, Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:  This position plans and coordinates community-based events that will engage and diversify audiences, maximize the use of our facilities, and actively solicit associations, sports, conference, leisure and group travel business by conduction direct sales efforts through conference bids, targeted sales efforts, trade shows, expos and other travel industry activities to connect with those groups.     

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Development of community relationships to collaborate and develop opportunities for enhanced visitor experiences.
  • Aggressively seeking new opportunities that the organization should be participating in to grow the market. 
  • Confirm all logistics, prepare gifts and collateral, enter all follow-up notes in CRM under the lead account, provide feedback to the Visit Cape Manager based on client response and handle site inspections as necessary.
  • Update partner account files and information effectively and efficiently in CRM to ensure activity information is always available and in accordance with Visit Cape. 
  • Assist with representing Visit Cape at industry and association meetings and with clients as necessary. 
  • Establish a strong working relationship with local and regional media and community clubs and organizations to increase awareness of Visit Cape’s functions and special events and reinforce the positive value of the tourism industry. 
  • Understanding and general knowledge of Cape as a Meeting Destination to include but not limited to hotels, special venues, restaurants, sports arenas, and convention centers. 
  • Assist in creating collateral utilizing PowerPoint presentations, design, sourcing and purchasing Visit Cape branded gifts or promotional items based on Marketing Guidelines, updating/adding accounts in CRM, entering leads, collecting contracts or history research or other projects as necessary to reach the goals of the sales division. Learn and become proficient with online/systems, GoToMeeting, Zoom, Dropbox, Adobe, and data systems as necessary.
  • Effectively communicate with all partners, promoters, and meeting planners regarding their needs, e.g., regarding setup needs and facilities to offer the information for bids purposes. 
  • Answer, and/or handle incoming telephone calls and emails efficiently and diplomatically with a positive attitude and pleasant personality. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:

 

  • High level of computer skills and knowledge of office procedures. 
  • High level of confidence in use of Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Candidate must be proactive and possess strong communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and budget procedures.
  • Background in quick comprehension and volume workload.
  • Ability to work in a flexible fast paced environment.
  • Must possess good organizational skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills when dealing with clients and visitors.
  • Be able to work independently with initiative.
  • The ability to comprehend instructions and follow through without assistance and/or supervision.
  • Be able to set priorities in order to see that tasks are handled correctly and efficiently.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Qualified applicants must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position relating the CGCVB to make well-informed, mission related decisions.
  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a related field.  Sufficient experience in the field of tourism and travel will be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.   

Salary per year $65,179 plus a generous benefit package.

  • Bi-weekly pay periods.
  • Thirteen paid holidays per year.
  • 96 hours of vacation – accrued throughout the year.
  • 96 hours of sick leave – accrued throughout the year.
  • 2 days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed on July 1 of the fiscal year to receive.
  • City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance – Employee only.
  • City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).
  • Optional group term life insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Optional vision insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
  • Voluntary deferred compensation plan – not matched by the City.

  • Total compensation value (Salary starting rate plus benefits value) for this position is $86,484 yearly.
