General Definition of Work

This position is responsible for coordinating volunteer management and instructing, directing and assisting volunteers to provide productive, efficient and effective emergency services.

Essential Functions

● Works collaboratively with the Fire Department to develop and implement volunteer-staffed positions.

● Recruits, selects and trains qualified volunteers for various positions.

● Facilitates and implements new volunteer activities and assignments.

● Maintains records for each volunteer.

● Tracks and evaluates the contribution of volunteers.

● Maintains a volunteer handbook which outlines expectations, policies and responsibilities for all volunteers.

● Maintains a relationship with other community volunteer programs and assists in community-wide efforts to recognize and promote volunteering.

● Coordinates staff to support events, departments, town shelters, distribution centers, special and emergency management events.

● Attends Emergency Management meetings as needed.

● Coordinates and applies for grant opportunities and through the Fire Department purchases equipment for grant awards.

● Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

● Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency.

● Must possess ICS 100, 200, 700, 800.

● Must possess FEMA IS-317 Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams.

● Current Missouri Driver’s License.

● American Heart Association CPR/First Aid certification.

Preferred Qualifications

● Experience in Grant Management.

● 5 or more years in Public Safety or Emergency Management.

Salary per hour $25.00.
